Subtle luxury, quiet room, and excellent food only a few minute walk from the Athens Airport

We chose this hotel because of it's proximity to the airport (yes, it's right across the street as other reviews said and was very easy to wheel your luggage). We were surprised how much we actually liked it. Our room was on the Executive Level (7th floor). At first blush the room we had was small and minimalistic, but then you see the attention to detail and subtle luxury. The bed, pillow, and down comforter were top quality and allowed for a perfect nights rest. The bathroom was small, but it had a unique design (tub, shower, and vanity angled perfectly with plush robes hanging on the wall). The commode was in a separate area. The rainshower was spacious and water pressure/temperature was excellent. We couldn't believe how quiet it was. We never heard a plane, or anything for that matter. Breakfast was included in our room and was one of the best we had on our entire trip. The cook was preparing made-to-order omelettes/eggs and pancakes, the pastries were plentiful and the greek cheese-filled pastries, especially, were very tasty, the greek yogurt and toppings were plentiful, the fruit was fresh, and there were several choices of juices. We wished we could have tried more things but we knew we'd be fed shortly on our flight back to JFK. Speaking of food, upon arrival at the hotel, we ate in the bar/restaurant and had an excellent bowl of soup and a chicken souvalki served with fries and salad---both were very good and served in large portionss. The main restaurant seemed to have a very good menu too but we had to make a choice. Lots of good wines to pick from too, and for the excellent location, the prices were much more reasonable that we expected them to be. You won't go wrong if you choose this hotel if you need an overnight stay in Athens to catch a flight the next day. This hotel lived up to the Sofitel brand. We loved it.

I was very taken aback when we arrived (myself, my husband and 19 year old daughter) and was told that we would have to get an adjoining room because my daughter was over age 12. The website indicates that the room I booked was for 3 people. I did not see anything on the site that would indicate she had to be under age 12. I think this was very misleading. We ended up booking the adjoining room with complimentary breakfast and happy hour with a hefty additional fee. We went to the happy hour and were without red wine for over an hour...supposedly a "perk" with this room. I went down to complain to a manager and actually had a bit of an emotional breakdown. I had been traveling all day and was frustrated and exhausted. The manager (I'm so sorry I can't recall your name) was very kind and compassionate and helped to resolve my issues. I have to say that the room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. I cancelled my reservation coming back to Athens from Milos and opted for a more affordable hotel that accepted three of us with no extra charge for my daughter. I would really encourage Sofitel to put in BOLD that the third person must be under age 12 for a party of 3 booking on their website. This would be only fair.

Very convenient airport hotel, directly across the street from the terminal. Required wheelchair assistance in the airport and they wheeled us directly to the hotel lobby. Easy, friendly check in. Very nice breakfast buffet. Didn't visit roof top restaurant but the bar/restaurant off of the lobby was good with excellent service. Full room amenities, slippers, body wash, lotion, etc.

A wonderful, if short, stay in this lovely hotel. All the staff were so kind, courteous and friendly. The Artemis Coffee bar serves wonderful food and again the staff were superb. I have mobility problems and thus the short distance from the airport is great. Thank you everyone who looked after me so well.

It’s convenient but very overpriced

This hotel has doubled in price since Covid hit. There are no improvements. The carpets are stained and filthy. The tv is old, dark, and very difficult to navigate. The shower scalded me as it goes to a boiling hot temperature without notice. I found out to be a very disappointing stay this time around.
